Alphabet of Things, 1964 by photographer Czech born Běla Kolářová (1923–2010). Based on her belief that it was impossible to photograph the real world accurately, Kolářová invented her own method of depicting the reality called the ‘artificial negative’. Creation of ‘artificial negatives’ involves pressing small objects into paraffin layers on pieces of cellophane. Her work centered around the theme of feminine and domestic life rooted in the context of the Cold War and exile.
